Just an interesting question has come up as to who actually owns the fibre optic cables that lots of companies offer with their own deals
Are the optic cable owned by some big company like Movistar or Orange or Vodafone and these smaller companies sub contract from the big players and then offer their own packages to us customers.

It's movistar which own the connection points, they have to license this out to others - so a case of who own's the connection points, rather than the cable. They then offer their own deals and do the cabling. This may not be the case everywhere - but what I have heard dealing with other telecomms companies.
