Hi folks,
Can anybody provide any recommendations for where to view tiles. I have already visited terrapillar, tabisam and preyser. How much do tilers normally charge per square metre to fit excluding tiles themselves?
Thanks
Alf

Is it a tile over, are you ripping up old tiles, are you expecting someone to lay a concrete sub floor first

Thanks for the reply. I think replace as I'm not sure whether tile over is a good thing to do although I would like to understand the difference in price and people's opinions pro and against before I make my decision.

Two neighbours of ours had their solariums retiled. One had a tile over existing tiles, thus giving him a double layer of insulation and protection. No problems at all since.
The other had his existing tiles ripped up and then put down after the surface had been screeded ? Not a tiler but believe that might be the expression?
Had huge problems and had to bring the tiler back three times to stop water ingress.

Hi Alf

Time is money mate,

A tile over on a solid tiled surface is easy, laying a new sub floor is time money tonnes of sand cement delivery etc, laying tile on a wobbly old floor calls for a rip out of everything underneath, often it’s shingle and sand, with some tar cloth underneath, I couldn’t hazard a guess because when I last paid builders they wanted 200 euros a day or gave you a price for the job and peed about for weeks

All you can do is get a few quotes and ask to see a few former projects they have done

Good luck

Definately tile over tile.

The only time to take up the old ones is , like in Kinchys post, it`s a solarium but with a leak. Then you have to take everything up and re-screed.

A patio, for instance, shouldn`t be a problem.
