Civil or nuclear war will have little effect on the 367 days of sun or the incredible micro climate of Torrevieja that gets people coming here. , prices according to a group of agents for them white boxes, will continue to rise in direct proportion to the decline in price of anything more than a year or so old.

They are pretty clueless on the whole the designers, my house has a 3m square void on the third floor, nowhere on the ground and second floor to hide a mop and a bucket and hoover,

Mental.

I don't think it will affect tourism to mainland Spain - Catalunya on the other hand.

No doubt after much stamping and shouting, it'll calm down and return to semi normal.

Perhaps Catalunya & UK can partner up as the first 2 of the new union :D

They should ban politicians. Send them all to jail, incite far too much trouble, usually for their own good. Note it's not them that ever lose their jobs or run out of money...

As for the square houses 'they are fashionable' I hear people say...So they were in the 80's. Reason why builders build square boxes, is easier and cheaper to do so. Rest is BS / marketing. When you wake up and realise you are living in a 90 odd metre box, the size of a decent flat, then marvel at your 150m2 plot and 1.5 metre long swimming pool - you'll later realise, perhaps you should have shopped around for something 2nd hand and found yourself something considerably larger for the same money...Still, at least its new & people like new

This topic went right off course. I was asking what will happen to house values in the event of civil war.

What’s the first law of estate agentism

“ your house has fell during the recent nuclear war/ civil war/zombie apocalypse while these new white boxes that are just a red spot on a map are selling like hot cakes”

Civil war - not really when the majority of the population do not want this.

Long term will all pan out - minor usual share wobbles, bit of heavy handed policing - students protesting....Few headlines & a couple of months later when all the pointless foot stamping is over, it will amount to very little.

I do not think will make much if any difference to house prices in mainland Spain - unless of course you are in Catalonia.

What I simply do not get - is they've been part of Spain 500 years - it's not like, 'well back when we were not part of Spain, it was different'. Its a nonsense, in no ones lifetime.

This is about money, greed. They have a higher than average GDP per capita than quite a few other parts of Spain - and they want to keep it all for themselves - rest is baloney. So much for sharing - socialism.

Tradition, best left in the past - good for war and dredging up a load of rose tinted stories, which have no bearing on reality today.

It’s like Liverpool, we have the riches that come from the Irish Sea, Garston trout etc, our kid and the beatles record sales, and the huge income from the knotty ash jam butty mines, but we share it with the poorer south, ken Dodd, could give Rajoy a lessson in leadership I think.

What will happen? Where will house prices go now?
I can't see any change in the property market in this area, however Spanish TV did show that the Valencian region was 1 of I think 7 others in Spain that would consider independence. As far as I can tell either estate agents are still over pricing properties or house prices are still going down.

I does me best ketron :D

I think properties are changing hands lately, lots of sold boards going up on older houses, it’s better than nothing.

Semi-agree. But beware some agents are using properties to put "sold boards" on when they know they are not sold just to get marketing value out of them. But the houses are now changing for nothing near the estate agents are marketing them for.

Properties are definitely not selling for the price the estate agents list them at.

I think you could probably argue that point anywhere,

I've purchased property in both UK & Spain - and never once paid agents asking price.

Overall, it has been stated that property prices have been creeping upwards. Properties are being sold and there is market movement - as well as construction. Not a 100% recovery, but s positive step in the right direction.

:D Yes, would be a bit like London, saying we have half the countries wealth, have the financial centre and we don't want to share with the rest of the UK! It's simply not on.

Heaven forbid a child in Barcelona doesn't learn Catalan - because a 500 year old dead language. May well be 'quaint' - and no ones stopping anyone learning it - but Spanish is way more important and used - as is English, German, Russian, Mandarin - all of which would benefit a young persons future than Catalan....

I'm just baffled once again into how local media manage to convince people who have been living as Spanish for 500+ years, that they are in fact not Spanish.

Thank you :D Liar.jpg
