I for one would be sorry to see this forum cease. I have no idea whether there have been any individual offers to take it over.

That said I have no idea what it would cost or indeed the knowledge to purchase, run and maintain, but would be happy to support some form of consortium if any others was interested. PM me if it is something you might be interested in.

I'm sure your suggestion would be perceived as some form of communist take over here, but it's a good idea.

.you need a out right buyer who knows what they are buying and doing ,and for people to pay a fare fee to advertise,
Exactly Dave.

As Gary has stated...." The site is now up for sale. It really needs to be in the hands of of an owner that is based in Spain and not the UK. "

Didn`t know Cardiff was in Spain, although there are some on here who are based in Spain but talk as if they are based in the UK.

So that`s no good. :D :D

No, you do not want to change the forum name - any value or ranking this website has, is with it's history. Longer a website has been up / published - higher it is rated. Start changing names, then all the other things change too which can mess up your history / ranking - in which case, you may as well as start at ground zero.

Best to keep name & make changes to structure and layout elsewhere - need to integrate social features that modern forums have as well as do some marketing on the forum, to gain new members / traffic.

As it stands I suspect our own TV website gets more traffic than this forum - i'm not being big headed either, it is just we spend considerable time and money marketing our site and I do not think this site has any marketing behind it (or not much judging by the volume of traffic / new members).

What is an undesirable?

With relation to this group, it's Someone who takes the piss out of people who take themselves far too seriously.

Bring them back they were the life blood of the forum, Essex and co etc.

I agree, former members who left for whatever reason were the lifeblood of this forum and set it apart from the others. Members who could be serious on certain topics and yet be funny, witty and take the p**s on other topics.

I mentioned some in a previous thread and could add a few more. I remember Parcifal and Beastess - both wrote great posts - funny without trying to be - but good members for the forum.

There were lots of great threads with real humorous 'banter' back 6 - 12 years ago from members who no longer post here, Essex, Vikingette, Fred Castleford, Kazzy, Pinada the fat man, Fenderman, Pidwun, the various 'Marias', and even Triton, Kev Tyler and Brandyboy before politics took over all sections of the forum. There were many more I can't think off.
Those were the gool ol' days :(

Unfortunately the life blood of any forum, is new members - that is generally what a forum is for, new people coming to areas, finding out information. Whilst knowledgable and friendly old posters are important, so is the constant growth of new users.

What has happened to the forum, is people have left it, it has not really seemingly been marketed and slowly but surely, people have left, got fed up, died or just drifted away - but new members have been slow to come - so posts are a little thin on the ground of recent times - unless a few squabbling over politics / brexit. Fact is this used to be one of the most popular websites locally, now it's slipped quite far.

I don't think a new owner needs to be in Spain - what they do need is to know how to market a website & put a little time in - it's doable, but can chew up a little time, so not a case of just buying it as that won't be enough to save or grow it.
