There are now 4800 UK citizens living and registered on the Padron in Torrevieja on a permanent basis. The UK represents the largest no of foreign residents followed by 4000 Russians. The population is now 850000 similar to 2005.

Yes that's correct. It's the number officially on the books. There is now a campaign to request those who have not signed on the Padrón and are entitled to do so to sign on. I suppose its the red tape and where to start that puts people off. Especially if you don't speak Spanish. They could make it simpler by having staff who would make the application all the way through to Residencia. If it's simple people will do it. If it's complicated then forget it.

The interesting points on the 2019 data to emerge are; whilst the UK remains the highest amount of foreigners, the number has reduced since 20 17/18. And the marked increases in Russian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Belgians.
