Seems that it is now hoped that this facility will open in June 2019.

A very bad computer generated external view of the facility has been issued:

From what I can work out from the greenery in the clip is that the main walk-in entrance to the building faces the existing garden area and the helipad is located towards the corner of Calle Cervantes/Calle Ramon y Cajol.

Hopefully it will go a head this time round and will benefit the area.
One would hope so. But I think the detail is in the fine print.

From what I have read from around the net/official press releases this will be a single storey building with the option of adding an additional floor at a later date. Orihuela will be responsible for cost of equipping the building but "may" receive contributions from those using the building ie Guardia Civil etc.

It's great that multiple agencies are prepared to operate out of 1 building, the problem is each have their own wish list especially when entering a brand new building - which increases costs. I'm still not convinced since (wingmans post) that the helipad will cost much.

The other thing I noticed in the Spanish press in the last 24 hrs is that the PSOE want a "tow away" truck to be based permanently on the Orihuela Costa and they believe tow awayed vehicles should be moved to the new Emergency Centre.

According to local media (I only caught a short glimpse) - delayed again. No chance of it opening when it was last promised.

Valencia will no longer cover the full cost and Orihuela will need to cover the difference.

I guess there is 2 options:-

1. Valencia and Orihuela cover the costs.
2. The site plans are scaled down so that the total cost is covered by Valencia.

The main issue I see is that with the amount of construction still ongoing on the Orihuela Costa even if Valencia and Orihuela cover the costs the original facilities planned will now be insufficient for the area.
