Hi i asked the same question a couple of years back, but stayed with sabadell, because some replies were inconclusive, and confusing.
my wife and i are non residents with a joint account .
we spend approx 8 weeks in spain each year until we retire
soon hopefully
i know you cant get interest on ballances but the charges are taking the pi**
so far this year : 178 euros
just for paying elec and water, and once yearly house insurance, and suma
we always stay in credit . every time we go to local branch theres a massive queue
so just wondered if they are all the same or should i move to another bank
would appreciate your opinions thanks

This looks very good, can't find any catches yet, do you actually have an account with them and if so how have you found their phone service in English?

No, we're still with Sabadell but looking to change accounts for the same reason. I'm waiting an answer to an email query regarding delivery of the debit card. Our communal mailbox is damaged and mail keeps getting stolen. I'm hoping I can pickup the debit card at a local Santander branch.

For a small while I thought Christmas had come earlier as we're with Sabadell as well.

Unfortunately there does seem to be a catch at the moment - "At this moment we only offer accounts for spanish tax residents but we will soon be able to offer you the account you need" came up when I started the application process on their website.

Damn. As non residents we too will still have to pay Sabadells outrageous fees.

We are non resident with account at Bankinter and pay nowhere near those fees. We keep average of €500 in the account over the course of a year. All our bills are paid by standing order. Check it out with them. Oh and very good online.

Great news! :) .....What fees do you actually pay? Is this a branch account? Do you get a free debit card? Free transfers in & out? Do they have a website with an english option?
Thanks for the info. :D

Sabadell 9 out of 10. Excellent service & friendly staff in local branch (Benijofar). It's just the bloody charges that are obscene! :(

We are non residents and use Bankia. If you keep a minimum balance of 2,000 € you pay no charges apart from 20€ a year for the debit cards.
