Reading the free newspaper earlier and was shocked to read that many cruise liners including Pullmantur have decide to drop Alicante from their list of ports of call. Passengers claimed that there was little to do and some said the city was dirty...horrifying. What is wrong? Guadalest is a magnificent place to see and a bus could have been provided to take tourists to visit it. The city itself is a delight in the old parts...lunch on the top floor of the Tryp Sol is a must. Surely the Alicante tourist people could have done a better job selling the city and the area. Such a disappointment to hear this sort of news.
A great loss to the city. Barcelona wins again.
Alicante cruise terminal.
Follow the yellow signs all along the marina, continue at the big roundabout..stay in the right lane and turn right. You should now be on the entrance to the pier. A couple of car parks available on the right hand side but we have pre booked a meet and greet car parking company called Via Park..we ring them 15 minutes before arriving and someone will be there to meet us at the arranged time wearing a uniform. Seems simple, so hope it is! €39for a week’s under cover parking. We drove over to familiarise ourselves as we too were concerned about finding our way.
Strange that the newspapers reported that the last dates for cruise liners coming into Alicante would be the11th November as the Pullmantur Horizon is due to do two more cruises after ours on 4th.
Just got off the ship this morning. We had a fabulous cruise but we were a separate party (250) who all booked The Festival of Legends with a Malaga company. They had exclusive rights to the disco and the travel agent has been an entertainment manager for many years before being involved with cruising so he booked all the best acts. The food was fabulous, fantastic staff etc. we had a 7 course gala dinner included. It was the cheapest cruise I had been on and I would say the best. The ship is a bit tired, we didn’t get escargots, lobster, oysters or caviar but we survived without them. Lol.
