Copy the file from the DVD.

Insert the DVD in your DVD drive
Close any windows that open and then go to Start - Computer
Right click the icon for the drive the DVD is in
Choose Explore or Open to display the directory of the DVD
Hopefully you'll see your file, right click on file and copy it
Send file to your sister

Hope this works for you, doing this from memory, long time since I've used XP

When you say start, computer do you mean turn on computer? Or click on something like co ntrol panel?
How do I know which drive the DVD is on?

You should have an icon on the screen titled "My Computer"
Double click on it
You then should see more icons: Local Disk (C:), possibly a disk D: and DVD-RAM Drive

Pop your disk into the drive
A box may then pop up giving you a list of options
Click on "open folder to view files"
Then you can right click on the file and copy.

If no box pops up after you have inserted DVD, right click on the Icon DVD-RAM Drive (it might have changed name after inserting disc) and select "explore"

You can take a photo with your mobile phone camera - if you have a reasonable phone. You will be surprised at the quality of the pictures you can get with a half decent modern mobile.

Alternatively - PC can do a screenshot and save it, easier than most above. XP. Just get the image on screen and follow the instructions below.

I'm not sure you should be using windows XP it is not secure - not supported by security patches (too old), do not go on any unusual websites or click on any email links you do not recognise, as it will likely be a swift end to your PC. You need to upgrade, for personal security if nothing else.
