You can have the best satellite receiver in the world, but the picture will still look poor an an old TV - just saying

A satellite receiver will only be SD or HD - though 4K is now available (though very little actual content broadcasted).

If you have an HD receiver already, buying a new one will not improve the picture.

If you have an SD receiver but want HD - then watching HD content WILL improve your picture.

This is of course all based on satellite receivers / satellite system (official). If for example you are using the likes of Torresat and using a modified receiver - Torresat despite the name is not satellite & is a reduced / retransmitted service - so if using anything other than an Official satellite system - IE Torresat/Superbeam or similar - changing the receiver will make NO difference.

Yes - SCART is 20+ years old and will only pass through a low res SD picture, switching to HDMI will produce a better picture.
