Apart from a plumber to do our new bathroom, our old toilet waste pipe fits straight down the waste pipe.
We have bought a new one but the pipe is half way up the back of the toilet so does that mean that I can move the new toilet over 2or3 inch's to one side.
If not we will have to change it tomorrow.
Thank you.

If you use the horizontal WC you've just bought and want the pipe to go into your existing hole in the floor then your new WC will sit much further forward than your existing one.
You can use an adaptor to turn the pipe 90 degrees downwards, but this will need a couple of inches radius on the 90 degree bend (at least), so the back of the horizontal outlet will sit a couple of inches forward from the front of the existing pipe in the floor.
Digging-up the floor to fix this will be costly, messy, and probably require some additional tiles for the bathroom floor.
Probably best to swap your new WC for one with a vertical outlet.

Also if you move the toilet pan forward even an inch or two the cistern won't touch the wall, cut out all the grief and change it, don't forget when you do eventually put a new toilet in to seal around the base.
